Forget Emojis! Check THIS out!<\/p>\n

We might be able to add emotions and sensations as content to our Emails and texts in the near future – or so says head of Yahoo Mail, Jeff Bonforte.<\/p>\n

In the coming years, Bonforte says sensors will place more emotion in our messages.<\/p>\n

“If my wife was emailing me about going to the doctor, should my watch indicate that her blood pressure is higher?” he said.<\/p>\n

He suggests smartwatches could detect stress on the wearer’s wrist, and the receiver’s smartphones could go cold if that’s the vibe it’s picking up from the sender.<\/p>\n

“Messaging should get more intimate – that’s what we strive for,” he said.<\/p>\n

Sarcasm is notoriously hard to pick up in texts, with senders often intending a friendly\/jokey email, but coming across rude. This is super common these days – agreed?<\/p>\n

Well, this emotion detector could very well be the solution.<\/p>\n

In 2005, a study found that inaccurate assumptions are often drawn by recipients of texts and emails.<\/p>\n

Thermometers, accelerometers and gyroscopes are being tested on smart watches and smartphones as sensors to pick up on emotional messaging.<\/p>\n

“We’re only really using three or four sensors properly now,” Bonforte says.<\/p>\n

“With more sensors, we could pretty soon understand 1000 different points of information from an email.”<\/p>\n

“I want to know what someone else is experiencing right now.<\/p>\n

Messaging will go in that direction. That’s far more emotionally connecting.”<\/p>\n
