Thanks to an online petition, it has been successfully removed from the emoji vocabulary. So how bad is it?<\/h3>\n<p>The best emoji to portray how Facebook would be feeling right now &#8211;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"emabrrassed emoki\" title=\"BEST OF THE WEB\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/15-flushed-face.png\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Basically, the social media juggernaut introduced a new emoji to its mix &#8211; &#8220;feeling fat&#8221; &#8211; which a pic of a fat smiley face.<\/p>\n<p>The emoji caused quite a stir, particularly with a group called Endangered Bodies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, in a bid to get the offensive emoji removed from the mix, the team, lead by Catherine Weingarten, started an online petition.<\/p>\n<p>16 767 signatures later, Facebook couldn&#8217;t ignore the group&#8217;s plight, and decided to remove the emotion from its status bar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"facebook tweet\" title=\"BEST OF THE WEB\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/879309-8b666be0-c778-11e4-9504-1b97135f94e2.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>Photo: Twitter\/Catherine Weingarten<\/h6>\n<p>Catherine&#8217;s reasoning?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs someone who has struggled with and overcome disordered eating, I know what it\u2019s like to \u201cfeel\u201d fat. I have spent years of my life consumed with negative thoughts about my body, and far too many days starving myself in an effort to lose weight,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook released an official statement about the removal of the emoji in question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve heard from our community that listing \u2018feeling fat\u2019 as an option for status updates could reinforce negative body image, particularly for people struggling with eating disorders.
