It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are, you should never be rude to anyone. Here’s why.<\/h3>\n

A guy by the name of Matt Buckland was making his way to work one day this week.<\/p>\n

Matt is the head of talent at Forward Partners, a venture capital firm.<\/p>\n

During his commute, he was stuck on a busy, delayed train on the District Line in the middle of London. He was surrounded by tourists with suitcases, angry and grumpy commuters on their way to work and a bunch of school kids.<\/p>\n

But there was one particular commuter that stood out to Matt.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Monument station, I stood to one side to let someone else off the train first and I think he thought I was just standing in his way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe pushed and I turned, I explained I was getting off too but he pushed past and then looked back and suggested I might like to f*ck myself\u2026which might have been true but not before a few cups of coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later that day, Karma stepped in.<\/p>\n

A familiar face walked through the door for a job interview.<\/p>\n

“At first he didn\u2019t recognise me,\u201d Buckland said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI asked him how he got to the interview, how was his morning commute. (We were on the train in the morning but the interview was at 5.30pm that evening.)\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt seems to have been significantly more forgiving than most people would be in his position – he didn’t hold it against his interview subject<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be easy to hold something like this over someone in an interview, but for me interviews aren\u2019t about that. When you interview you are looking for a read of skills but also to know if that person is a real human being, it\u2019s about that connection. By the end of the interview we laughed it off and were both happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

This unnamed commuter didn’t get the job.<\/p>\n
