Port Adelaide chairman defends his club\u2019s losses.<\/h3>\n

Power Chairman David Koch says his club\u2019s $2.5 million loss last year was \u201cabsolutely unacceptable\u201d but there is an explanation.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy view is that any mug can cut costs,\u201d Koch told FIVEAA. \u201cIt actually takes a bit of skill to grow a business. And last year was all about growing the business. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was about ensuring football was well resourced.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that was justified and sets us up to be in the black this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Koch said in terms of footy department and administration spends, the club is \u201cquite frugal\u201d, ranking 12th and 14th respectively in the AFL.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t pee money up against a wall,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to invest in your core. And our mantra is Port Adelaide is around to win premierships and make our community proud. That\u2019s the two things we live by.\u201d<\/p>\n
