Planet Earth is not alone!<\/h3>\n

This is super cool science stuff.<\/p>\n

NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope has recently discovered an Earth like planet, which is orbiting a nearby star within the SAME zone of our galaxy.<\/p>\n

The planet is appropriately named Kepler 186f and is around 500 light-years from Earth in the Cygnus Constellation.<\/p>\n

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!<\/p>\n

Well, the habitable zone – which is known as the Goldilocks zone, is the region around a star where planetary-mass objects with sufficient atmospheric pressure can support the liquid form of water at their surfaces – according to Anonymous Mags.<\/p>\n

It has been estimated there are around 40 billion Earth-sized planets orbiting in our Milky Way Galaxy, Kepler’s discovery has been labeled the first to be found in the habitable zone of another star.<\/p>\n

If this nearby star to Kepler is similar to our Sun, then the probability of life on this Earth-like planet rises significantly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know of just one planet where life exists \u2013 Earth. When we search for life outside our solar system we focus on finding planets with characteristics that mimic that of Earth,\u201d SETI Institute at NASA’s Ames Research Centre in Moffett Field research scientist said.<\/p>\n

Kepler has half the mass and size as pour own solar system’s Sun, and only receives one-third of the energy that we get from Sun\u2026 It orbits its star every 130 days.<\/p>\n
