This family has sparked controversy, after their story went public. Would you be ok with this?<\/h3>\n

The internet is cracking it over this husband, James, who spies on his family with an app – and his wife let’s him.<\/p>\n

Cathrine and James Higginson have stirred controversy and sparked outrage, after the Mirror reported the story that 42-year-old James installed a tracking app by Cerberus on Catherine’s phone, and his kid’s phones to monitor them.<\/p>\n

\"SPYING<\/p>\n

“After 10 years of marriage I had always believed husband James and I didnt have secrets from one another.<\/p>\n

Turns out there was a huge, totally shocking one that I only discovered by accident.<\/p>\n

Last year I was teaching in a particular building at school where there was no mobile phone reception which meant I missed a text from my bank with an activation code to make an important financial transfer.<\/p>\n

When I got home I started to apologise to my husband James who immediately replied, \u201cOh, don\u2019t worry about it \u2013 I\u2019ve sorted it.\u201d<\/p>\n

When I looked at him, puzzled, he continued: \u201cI was able to get into your phone and locate the code to activate the transaction\u201d before casually adding: \u201cI don\u2019t need you here to be able to read your text messages.\u201d<\/p>\n

WHOA. <\/p>\n

“While I was very shocked at first about the extent of the snooping I ultimately don\u2019t have a problem with him doing this because I\u2019m not up to anything. But I can see that for those for whom cheating is in their DNA, they\u2019d panic about being caught out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The internet erupted in anger, with many people up in arms over the lack of boundaries James seemed to have.<\/p>\n

Catherine has responded to the outrage.<\/p>\n

“I am especially amused by the people who\u2019ve decided that I\u2019m an abused wife or that our marriage is in trouble. I think this probably goes to show that readers like to make snap judgments without having all the facts and don\u2019t bother to read between the lines. I do think the the idea (that your phone is not secure) is \u201cspooky\u201d \u2013 but I do not in any shape of form find James listening to me \/ reading my texts spooky. This is my husband and best mate for goodness\u2019 sake. \u2026<\/p>\n

Personally I\u2019d find it much more \u201ccreepy\u201d if I was in a relationship where the person wouldn\u2019t let me have the password to their computer. I don\u2019t think total transparency is creepy at all. If you\u2019ve got nothing to hide, there\u2019s no big deal.”<\/p>\n

And James shared his thoughts:<\/p>\n

“People need to bear in mind that we use this app passively \u2013 it\u2019s there if we need it. I don\u2019t sit behind my screen monitoring my family! There are loads of other apps like messenger and whats app that pull exactly the same type of data. The only difference here is that we are using the data rather than some big organisation. Equally they\u2019ll find my iPhone feature is an integral element of all iPhones \u2013 is this spying?!”<\/p>\n
