The MCG no longer deserves first dibs on the Boxing Day test following five years of \u201cwoeful\u201d cricket, says FIVEAA\u2019s Stephen Rowe.<\/h3>\n

There have been calls to offer the iconic test fixture to other Aussie grounds after a shield game at the G was abandoned over the weekend because the pitch was unsafe.<\/p>\n

Rowey said during Monday\u2019s FIVEAA sports show:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last five years they\u2019ve had a benign flat track — it\u2019s been a joke. Cricket\u2019s been woeful there and they shouldn\u2019t get an automatic first choice for that Boxing Day test\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a joke on the weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Meanwhile cricketer writer Robert Craddock said the MCG had been \u201ca protected species for too long<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn an age where several states have splurged hundreds and millions of dollars to stay on pace in the race to host Test matches, how unfair is it that the ground with the worst Test deck in the country gets the plum date of every summer?\u201d he wrote for News Ltd.<\/p>\n
