{"id":26667,"date":"2019-11-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/a-local-council-has-banned-balloons\/"},"modified":"2019-11-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-04T00:00:00","slug":"a-local-council-has-banned-balloons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/a-local-council-has-banned-balloons\/","title":{"rendered":"A Local Council Has Banned Balloons"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Giving up balloons is \u201csomething small\u201d we can all do to help our environment, says Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins.<\/h3>\n<p>Victor Harbor council has banned balloons at all civic events and private events held on council land.<\/p>\n<p>She told FIVEAA Breakfast:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe live in such a beautiful environment here in Victor Harbor\u2026 and balloons, especially helium balloons, can travel a very long distance and if they\u2019re accidentally released they can have an awful impact on our wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about council doing its bit and educating the community and the community doing its bit so we protect our environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really about education. Will be making sure if people apply to hold an event on council land that they don\u2019t use balloons, that they use alternatives.
