\u201cThe guy\u2019s one of the sickest bastards ever to be released from our prison system and the whole thing was a privacy operation mounted on his behalf, no the community\u2019s, his<\/em> behalf.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s one of the most appalling things I can remember happening.<\/p>\n
\u201cIsn\u2019t it just the most irritating illustration of the extent to which the whole mentality within the criminal justice system is arse about. The idea that this guy is the one who needs to be protected, not the people who might end up being his next door neighbours who might actually be interested in knowing what the bloke know looks like\u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cThe public does not have the track record of doing what these guys do and they\u2019re the ones who get the protection, it\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Meanwhile Correctional Services Minister Corey Wingard says he is waiting to hear why a decoy was used.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am not a part of operational decisions,\u201d he told FIVEAA Breakfast. \u201cIn hearing about that I wasn\u2019t overly impressed and I have asked for an explanation. I wasn\u2019t aware and I\u2019ve asked them to explore it further.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I have been told was there was a very limited time to make this release and I think in hindsight things would\u2019ve been done differently had there been more time to plan a different release. I\u2019ve made my feelings known to the chief. He\u2019s doing a review of this and I\u2019ll await the outcome.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t understand the reason for it happening. I\u2019m waiting to get the review to find out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
