The news generated \u201csome real hysteria and scare mongering\u201d, said Penbo, including reports online the beloved statue was about to be knocked down.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can reveal this is rubbish. We spoke to the minister\u2019s office this morning and a spokesman for Stephan Knoll said this:<\/p>\n
\u2018That story is so far off from being accurate. Scotty is iconic. While the designs of what the intersection will look like have not been finalised there is absolutely no plan to knock down Scotty.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only are they getting an upgraded intersection to drive through but the iconic Scotsman will remain untouched.<\/p>\n
