On Tuesday Senator Hanson-Young told FIVEAA Breakfast:<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s obviously a very serious threat. It was a pretty awful thing to receive. The people who had to deal with it were our poor staff. It\u2019s not nice for them either — they\u2019re always the frontline and it\u2019s just not right.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhoever did this, they\u2019re an idiot and I hope they reflect upon it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Ms Hanson-Young said the incident was indicative of the nasty election campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not very Australian frankly,\u201d she said. \u201cI think it\u2019s really not what our country\u2019s about.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got people of all different political persuasions and one of the best things that happens is we\u2019ve got a safe and vibrant democracy. You see that on Election Day with the democracy sausage stall and people in all their different coloured t-shorts all getting along and having a good chat.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe might disagree on the details of policy but what we all agree on is that we\u2019re there to try and make Australia better and build on what we\u2019ve got for the next generation.<\/p>\n
