According to Leon, SA Health has confirmed it has stock of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccination for young children under the national immunisation scheme, but has acknowledged that at least one private provider is out of stock.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t get the vaccination you would require as an adult,\u201d Leon said. \u201cAll this business about we\u2019ve got ours for children, that\u2019s a separate problem, don\u2019t look at us — for God\u2019s sake this is a public health matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Pharmacist Greg Scarlett told Leon:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve already had people ringing my pharmacy and other pharmacies chasing the vaccine and really that\u2019s what people need to do now — if they need it and they get a script — is hit the phones, try a number of pharmacies.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere may be some that have some stock, I\u2019m not personally aware of it, but you might be lucky. I really don\u2019t have any other suggestions for people as to where they might source the measles vaccine.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeasles can kill. It\u2019s a serious disease in children and in adults. Some of the complications with measles can be fatal. It\u2019s a really important vaccine to get if you\u2019re somebody who needs it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
