Adelaide is on track to record its driest start to the year since 1888, reports the Bureau of Meteorology.<\/h3>\n

The BOM\u2019s Simon Timke told FIVEAA Breakfast on Wednesday:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had 17.8mm so far this year in West Terrace, which is not much. Our average up to the end of April is 108.3mm — so a long way short of that.<\/p>\n

\u201c1888, that was the previous driest — we had 19.2mm in the first four months of the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve obviously still got a week or so of April to go but at this stage looking at the forecast I think we\u2019ll struggle to get over a millimetre in the next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a slight chance we could see a shower around the Adelaide area on Friday\u2026 but I think we\u2019ll get a fraction of a millimetre. Most likely we\u2019ll end up being the direst first four months of the year on record.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
