On Tuesday\u2019s Breaking @ 8 segment Penbo shared a conversation he had with a local battler:<\/p>\n
\u201cHe told me that he got bailed up in Burnside last week by someone who was a council ranger who confronted him and said, \u2018What are you doing with these bottles?\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cHe said, \u2018I have an arrangement with the person who owns this house. They know that I do this for a bit of income and they always leave the bin out a day early to give me first dibs\u2026\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cThis council worker told him he wasn\u2019t allowed to do it and then he asked him for his name and his telephone number in case he needed to contact him again.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re not the cops. The council\u2019s got no right to do that.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou could argue that the homeowner is actually the owner of the cans and the bottles in the yellow bin and the homeowner\u2019s got every right to decide whether they go to the council that\u2019s flushed with cash or to the poor bloke who\u2019s on the bones of his bum trying to make 5, 6, 7 dollars a bin by getting his hands dirty mucking on through it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt seemed to be such a heavy handed tactic, I thought, on the part of the council to start monstering these people who are clearly desperately poor.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
