Graham Cornes has questioned whether Port Adelaide\u2019s targeting of Max Gawn in the club\u2019s win over Melbourne was in the spirit of the game.<\/h3>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t normally target the big guy,\u201d Cornesy told the FIVEAA sports show. \u201cYou normally target someone who\u2019s a bit more vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIs it right? Is it right that you can put that much work into a player off the ball?<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s tagging and then there\u2019s harassment. I\u2019ve been critical of Rory Sloane, the treatment that he\u2019s copped in the past\u2026 it\u2019s not within the spirit of the game. The umpires have the laws to protect guys who are being targeted.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the ball\u2019s not within five metres you can\u2019t bump\u2026 or target or push them when they\u2019re more than five metres off the ball.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that tactic more than taking away Max Gawn\u2019s powers, it empowered the young players. You saw young players playing their first game getting up and getting in his face.<\/p>\n
