I actually did speak to the family yesterday and heard what\u2019s a pretty tragic tale that they\u2019re having to go constantly to hospital with their toddler. They\u2019re getting pretty used to knowing the inside of the hospital. Their son really does need specialised infection control area because of the conditions that he has with his breathing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately because of what we\u2019ve seen at the hospital this Cassia ward has been closed &#8212; this is not any ward in the hospital\u2026 the Cassia ward was upgraded six years ago. It is pretty brand spanking new in comparison to the rest of the hospital\u2026 and it\u2019s sitting there completely closed. There\u2019s 20 beds that are all closed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe nurses and the doctors at the hospital told these parents: we would like to send your son there because we know he\u2019d get better care there, but we can\u2019t open that ward because of the budget at the moment. They basically told him you\u2019ve got to complain about this issue so we can get something to happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor SA Health to now come out and say this has got nothing to do with budget is pretty stark\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHospitals between Christmas and New Year\u2026 they do wind down somewhat but this is not Christmas now.
