Premier Steven Marshall has strongly defended Water Minister David Speirs after the Murray-Darling Basin Royal Commission accused Mr Speirs of breaching the ministerial code of conduct<\/a>.<\/h3>\n

The commission report stated SA\u2019s \u201ccapitulation\u201d to the eastern states on Murray River water allocations was \u201ccontrary to the interests of South Australians\u201d.<\/p>\n

On Friday Mr Marshall told FIVEAA breakfast Mr Speirs had his full support.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me tell you we will have a very tough test for ministers within the Liberal party, but this is not an area where David Speirs has been found to be in any way negligent,\u201d Mr Marshall said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact he took a position to the negotiation, which was an agreed position from the entire cabinet. This is something that we followed very closely. We have arrived at the correct position\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fine to stand on your soapbox and wave your arms around and scream at Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the ACT but the reality is we are at the end of the river\u2026 it was very important to keep every single person at the table and that\u2019s exactly what David Speirs did with the support of the entire cabinet\u2026<\/p>\n
