Premier Steven Marshall has made a pitch to Scott Morrison to get a larger slice of the country\u2019s skilled migrant intake.<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not talking about mass migration to South Australia,\u201d Mr Marshall told FIVEAA breakfast on Thursday. \u201cWe\u2019re not talking about a massive population increase but the reality is we are getting further and further behind the rest of the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are losing a seat at the next federal election. We\u2019re becoming a smaller part of the commonwealth and I don\u2019t think that\u2019s good.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got a net outflow from South Australia, 5,000 to 7,000 people a year. Tasmania has got a net inflow, so we are nowhere near where we should be.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne, we want to keep more of our young people here in South Australia. Two, we want more international students and, three, we do want some targeted skilled migration to fill the skill deficits that we have.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not talking about mass migration and we\u2019re not talking about migrants taking jobs from South Australians. We\u2019re talking about adding to the pie here in South Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
