The state government is standing by Premier Steven Marshall\u2019s comments that \u201cwe will be fine\u201d despite 30,000 properties in Adelaide\u2019s west losing power during Thursday\u2019s 46.6C scorcher.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThe premier was 100 per cent right,\u201d Energy Minister Dan van Holst Pellekaan told FIVEAA breakfast on Friday. \u201cWe did manage to keep electricity up in the grid. We had enough electricity in South Australia — and that\u2019s something that everybody involved deserves a lot of credit for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is true to say that SAPN\u2019s infrastructure was affected and hardly surprising. I give SAPN a lot of credit for getting almost all of those homes back on overnight, an enormous amount of work.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always said, \u2018It\u2019s close, we have a buffer, it\u2019s going to be difficult, it\u2019s going to be challenging, I think we\u2019ll make it.\u2019 Those are the comments I made very deliberately and I don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything wrong with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

PENBO: \u201cThere would be 30,000 people listening to this now just shaking their heads going, look, I plugged stuff in, it wasn\u2019t working, the air conditioner wasn\u2019t working.\u201d<\/p>\n

MINISTER: \u201cI feel for those people\u2026 but you\u2019ve got to break this down in to the pieces government can control and those they can\u2019t. We had no forced load shedding, we had no blackouts because we didn\u2019t have enough electricity. What we did have — and this is serious, I\u2019m not pretending it\u2019s not –was that substations and lines for a whole range of different reasons went down and they affected people.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
