To me, you don\u2019t intervene in a market that is looking after itself and this market is looking after itself. There\u2019s 700 rooms under construction in the city at the moment. There\u2019s another 13 hotels in total in progress or coming online\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo why would you intervene?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs taxpayers we sunk more than $500 million into the oval with a view that it would be self-sustaining. My fear is also &#8212; the hotel happens, what happens in five or eight years time when they go actually we need another revenue stream? What are they going to do, build a shopping centre there? It doesn\u2019t just stop there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been charge with being the guardians of the parklands for all South Australians.
