Port Adelaide officials have expressed their \u201cdisappointment\u201d to the player caught up in an AFL texting scandal<\/a>, but the player is unlikely to lose his job, reports Caroline Wilson.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThe AFL are looking at this story, their integrity people are looking at the story as I said last week,\u201d Caro has told FIVEAA. \u201cThis is not only on the basis of the drug reference in the text messages but also on the basis of their respect and responsibility policy towards women.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPort have spoken to the player concerned and had so by late last week. He\u2019s obviously struggling himself as a result of being exposed in this way — and we\u2019ve heard from one of the women<\/a> who\u2019s been named as a result of the text messages going public.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s real disappointment from the Port Adelaide Football Club about what this player has done, real disappointment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe understanding of all parties is that they [the text messages] are authentic and the attitude of Port, while disappointed and while having spoken to the player, is that they\u2019re going to keep their powder dry until the AFL and their integrity team do their investigation and then Port will make a decision where they go next.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019ll lose his job, but I don\u2019t think this will go away either.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
