\u201cThis is not what nurses want to be doing, but nurses are stepping up in the interests of our patients. This is absolutely about safe patient care. Nurses believe patients are being put at risk by the current crisis.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is no less or no more than what the department itself does in times of crisis. Its very low level categories — level three and below.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would certainly continue on with surgical procedures involving the removal of cancer, anything to do with heart or cardiac conditions that may become problematic. The only cancellations that would be occurring would be genuinely non-urgent, non-life threatening such as knee arthroscopies, knee replacements and hips.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt any point the minister could put an end to this by ensuring that the circuit breaker that needs to be on the table is decent\u2026 there is no transparency about what it is on offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
