There is a \u201cgrowing sense\u201d Liberal Premier Steven Marshall<\/strong> has been too slow to make the necessary changes within the state\u2019s public service, reports David Penberthy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still relatively early in the piece for the Marshall government,\u201d Penbo told FIVEAA on Thursday. \u201cIt would be a beat up of massive proportions to say that there is anything resembling a crisis besetting the Marshall government\u2026<\/h3>\n

\u201cBut I want to sound a cautionary note.<\/h3>\n

\u201cI was talking to a member of the Liberal party yesterday, someone who works in the public service, who put it to me that Steven Marshall did not exactly hit the ground running with a plan for the public service and the manner in which it was going to be managed.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a degree of consternation in conservative circles about the fact that there is still so many state government departments that have acting chief executives\u2026 obviously a lot of people have been sacked\u2026 but there are still a whole bunch of people out there who are in acting roles.<\/h3>\n

\u201cAlmost five months since the election was held there is still a sense that many of these departments are rudderless and that the calls that are being made internally within the state\u2019s bureaucracy are still being made by people who were very much part of the culture of the former Labor administration.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIf things don\u2019t turn around quickly and we get permanent chief executives it\u2019s going to be much, much harder for the Marshall government to change the culture and change the policies as required.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThere is a growing sense that the premier is being a little bit sluggish and that if you were to write the story about his first 100 days you might run out of content pretty early in the piece.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
