There\u2019s a bit that has to happen between now and then\u2026\u201d<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cThe Newspoll in today\u2019s Australian is particularly devastating for Bill Shorten. In terms of his own standing with the Australian people it confirms his continuing decline\u2026 his approval rating is done another two per cent to just 29 per cent. Seven out of every 10 Australians don\u2019t think Bill Shorten would make a very good prime minister.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cIn contrast Malcolm Turnbull is up two points to 48 per cent. The one thing Bill Shorten can take a small degree of solace in is that the party vote still has Labor marginally ahead two party preferred 51-49.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cThe trigger for any kind of action will be this raft of by-elections that are looming Saturday week.
