Residents will turn up in big numbers, says the club, to argue the Saints\u2019 request to extend its use of lights at its home ground.<\/p>\n
David and Will on FIVEAA breakfast read out internal correspondence from the club pleading with members to help it win the debate — including asking its young female players to show up in their footy gear.<\/p>\n
According to the correspondence:<\/p>\n
\u2018The Unley council is holding a special development application meeting tonight to consider the Goodwood Saints\u2019 application for extended use of lights at the Goodwood Oval, namely for Wednesday night girls training and for Friday and Saturday night games.<\/p>\n
\u2018Some of us are doing a brief presentation to argue in support of the application. There will also be a number of local residents there arguing against the application.<\/p>\n
\u2018It would really help our cause if as many girls as possible could attend the meeting in their Goody Saints gear to clearly show who will be losing out if they reject the application. How do you say no directly into the faces of our girls?<\/p>\n
\u2018The meeting is at 7pm. I have it on good authority that the objecting local residents will turn out in force and take up lots of the limited audience space. Can I recommend getting there no later than 6.30pm.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
David Penberthy said it was \u201ccrazy\u201d the club would have to go to such lengths.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy sympathy is with the kids playing sport and the club,” Penbo said. “The Goodwood Saints oval has been there for a long time\u2026”<\/h3>\n
\u201cWhat time are the people who are complaining going to bed? The lights aren\u2019t on until midnight.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n
