It was completed in 1937 after a treacherous four-year struggle against the elements. Originally a military jail, <strong>Alcatraz<\/strong> was a maximum high-security federal prison between 1934-63 and housed some of America\u2019s most dangerous felons. Today, it\u2019s a popular tourist attraction &#8211; the highlight being the <strong>Cellhouse Tour<\/strong>.
