Crows star Eddie Betts says he started to \u201cfreak out\u201d when his wife Anna went into labour while he was in Melbourne<\/a> and before Anna\u2019s mum and sister had arrived from interstate.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not how we planned it, but that\u2019s life,\u201d Eddie told FIVEAA.<\/h3>\n

\u201cI was sitting in the room and I was going down to get some water in the hotel and she called me to say her waters had broken and that\u2019s when I started to freak out. I was like, what am I doing? Do I get on the next plane? We started looking at flights.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Eddie ended up watching the birth via Facetime in the hotel lobby while some friends back home stepped in to support Anna.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had great friends here in Adelaide — a friend of ours, Gabby, who came over and helped Anna pack a bag and was a step in \u2018dad\u2019. Nana Josie came over and picked up the kids and took the kids for the day.<\/h3>\n

\u201cI was on a high the whole day. I told the boys before the game — they were pretty excited.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIt would\u2019ve been harder if I didn\u2019t know that they were born yet and they were in labour.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThat would\u2019ve been playing in my head the whole game, but to know they were out, they were healthy, they were with mum and friends — I was just happy that they were healthy\u2026 it was a natural high going into the game.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n
