He said Seeley International and MyBudget had both lost government contracts.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are two businesses, very reputable businesses here in Adelaide,” Penbo said on Thursday\u2026 “that have recently missed out on government contracts. They are both businesses that went public with their support for the bank tax.”<\/h3>\n
\u201cBanking sources told me that in both cases these businesses were told, side of the mouth stuff, that it was due to their support for the anti-tax campaign.<\/h3>\n
\u201cBusinesses in this town are saying they are experiencing payback in the form of missing out on government work — work they had successfully tended for previously\u2026 that is what the businesses are saying.<\/h3>\n
\u201cThis is what is being described in business circles as a campaign of retribution by the Weatherill Labor government against those businesses who had the audacity to come out and publicly back the campaign against the proposed bank tax.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Penbo later reported the government \u201cflat out denies\u201d businesses were being punished.<\/p>\n
He read out a statement from the Premier\u2019s Office, which said in part:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe government was not aware the businesses mentioned were opposed to the bank tax. The reason they were unsuccessful in securing a future job fund grant is because the independent panel did not recommend their submission to government for approval.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
