Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan defends the decision not to give city trams a right turn off King William St onto North Terrace.<\/h3>\n

\u201cA lot of people have deliberately misled South Australians on what the service impact of this will be,\u201d Mr Mullighan told FIVEAA on Wednesday.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been lots of suggestions that people will have to get off trams, walk to different stops and catch a different service,” he said. “While it\u2019s true they will need to catch a different service, they certainly won\u2019t have to walk anywhere. They can jump off one tram at a stop and wait for a different service to take you down to the east end. That\u2019s the experience of much larger, more complex tram networks that we have interstate and overseas.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be a slower, less frequent service for the east end if we were to do what people like David Pisoni and property owners want us to do — and that\u2019s direct more trams from Glenelg to the east end.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want more frequent, more reliable and easy to catch services across our network — and that\u2019s what we\u2019re delivering.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
