There’s plenty going on behind closed doors as the Adelaide Crows try to hang on to unsigned stars Jake Lever and Mitch McGovern, reports Tom Rehn.

“It’s really reaching fever pitch,” Tommy told FIVEAA breakfast on Thursday. “And not just in South Australia, but particularly in Victoria — what is going to happen to out of contract pair Mitch McGovern and Jake Lever.”

“The stories, the rumours, the innuendo — it just will not go away.”

Latest reports are that Fremantle has offered McGovern upwards of $750,000 a year for five years, while Lever is believed to have met directly with Melbourne. The Herald Sun was reporting on Thursday that Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs are also chasing Lever.

“If you lose both, they’re your bookends for the next 10 years,” Tom said.

“Make no mistake: there is a lot going on behind closed doors at the moment. I’m more worried about Lever at the moment than I am Mitch McGovern…”

Will didn’t take the news well: “Really? Well that makes me very worried because I would’ve thought it was the other way. He gets good mail, Tom Rehn.”
