Asked about the delay, Mr Mullighan said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI was certainly under the impression those payments were in train or had been made. It\u2019s a surprise to me\u2026 they should\u2019ve been paid by now. I\u2019m disappointed they haven\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIf you owe them money,\u201d Smitho said, \u201cthey\u2019ll be knocking on your door and they\u2019ll be penalising you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what really annoys me about the way government operates. Just give theses people and ex gratia payment and get on with it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a stuff up &#8212; the minister has all but admitted that, but I\u2019m questioning whether it would have ever been paid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an amazing story &#8212; a bungle, a red-faced minister yesterday.
