A spike in values as a result of the newly agreed players’ pay deal could have big ramifications for both Adelaide teams.

Lions footy GM David Noble has told FIVEAA that players out of contract in 2017 have a massive advantage:

“My concern at the moment in the market is that the volume of increase that the CBA is going to obtain within one year artificially inflates the market,” Noble said on Thursday.

“I think that becomes a problem for clubs to manage the values. If you happen to be out of contract this year, I think you have a much better advantage at securing a more lucrative contract than you do in three years time, and I think that’s unfair.”

If he’s right, Port Adelaide is potentially in a bind with 17 players coming out of contract this year. “Not happy days — losey, losey,” Rowey said.

But the Crows aren’t immune either. “Adelaide have got a few big ones too. We’ll see how that plays out,” Bicks said.
