{"id":29578,"date":"2017-06-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/disturbing-new-claim-about-disgraced-oakden-aged-care-centre\/"},"modified":"2017-06-02T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-06-02T00:00:00","slug":"disturbing-new-claim-about-disgraced-oakden-aged-care-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/disturbing-new-claim-about-disgraced-oakden-aged-care-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"DISTURBING new claim about disgraced Oakden aged care centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Patients at the disgraced Oakden aged care centre have been treated worse than animals, according to a consultant who worked there in 2008.<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIf we were treating animals this way, there would be an outcry,\u201d Neil Baron told Leon Byner on FIVEAA. \u201cI just really cannot believe and comprehend what is actually happening and the resistance from the government over this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>LISTEN HERE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/325631370&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" frameborder=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr Baron\u2019s comments came as Leon Byner revealed the wellbeing of patients at the facility was still at risk:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAfter all the whistleblowing and warnings, today we are told by the federal Department of Heath that the safety of patients is still at risk at Oakden because there continues to be serious medication incidents,\u201d Leon said on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Mr Baron said the situation at Oakden was \u201can absolute joke\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMedication management is an issue, but it\u2019s not a severe issue\u2026 it\u2019s something nurses are trained to do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not something that is that difficult that it\u2019s impossible to do. There is a culture in that place and there is a culture with the senior bureaucrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>And he warned simply moving patients would not solve the problem:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey\u2019re not going to fix the problem, they\u2019re going to shift the problems\u2026 to another aged care facility. There\u2019s no will there to fix the problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe identified nine years ago that there was problems.
