{"id":29616,"date":"2017-05-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-29T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/professor-s-explosive-claims-about-hospital-system\/"},"modified":"2017-05-29T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-05-29T00:00:00","slug":"professor-s-explosive-claims-about-hospital-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/professor-s-explosive-claims-about-hospital-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor\u2019s EXPLOSIVE claims about hospital system"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The practice of \u201csham\u201d hospital admissions has been going on for years and potentially impacted up to 100 patients, says a top professor.<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThis is a very serious, deceptive practice,\u201d Prof Warren Jones from Flinders Uni told Leon Byner on FIVEAA. \u201cWe have clear evidence that it is happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prof Jones rejected comments made by Health Minister Jack Snelling that only one patient had been incorrectly admitted, and that it was due to a predictive text error.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe minister, I believe, has been grossly misled or misinformed,\u201d Prof Jones said on Monday. \u201cHis information is totally wrong. This has been going on probably for two years. It\u2019s involved dozens or hundred of patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not due to a computer glitch or a predictive text problem. The fact that it\u2019s been going on for so long and hasn\u2019t been picked up, if it was an error like that, speaks for itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>LISTEN HERE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to Prof Jones, patients in the public health system have been admitted to hospital under the names of doctors who no longer work in the system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is real,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s been happening and the minister must look into this very seriously. It has legal implications for both the patients and for the doctors whose names have been used without their knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Randall Williams told Leon Byner former colleagues had alerted him to the fact his name was appearing on admissions at Modbury Hospital years after he stopped working there:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSome emergency department patients were being admitted under my name\u2026 and then at some point presumably either discharged or transferred elsewhere.
