The Victory Hotel at Sellicks Beach was caught up in an online furore after Doug fired back at a customer who called the pub \u201cterrible\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was furious,\u201d Doug, who also owns the Star of Greece, told David and Will on Wednesday. \u201cNumber one, they didn\u2019t even eat here, so how can they judge the place? And number two, we did everything we possibly could for them. I was angry.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doug said the trouble started when a group of 17 people arrived at the hotel despite having only pre-booked for two.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe tried to accommodate them, but we just couldn\u2019t, we just didn\u2019t have any seats left. We offered them meals in the bar area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Doug said he \u201csaw red\u201d when some from the group started posting negatively about the pub, including Emma-Jade Fowler who wrote:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYou are rude, obnoxious and so unaccommodating. We had a group booking of 17 people, yes 17 people, and every single one… has walked away disgusted.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd every single one of us will tell every person we know our story of your terrible service and unhelpful, rude staff. We will never be back.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Doug responded:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTerribly dimwitted Emma-Jade not-sure-what-my-first-name-should-be Emma or Jade, don\u2019t get involved in something you don\u2019t know anything about,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cImagine one of your friends told you the sun wasn\u2019t going to come up tomorrow. Would you agree just because they were a stupid, dimwitted friend? No, you wouldn\u2019t. If one of your friends said I went to a restaurant with 17 people and they couldn\u2019t find my booking? Yes, if you were a dimwitted imbecile, yes, possibly.<\/p>\n \u201cBut if they told you the truth and said that they had screwed up their booking, maybe you wouldn\u2019t be wasting your time writing c…. But maybe you just love seeing your name on social media.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Doug told David and Will some of what he wrote was \u201ctoo harsh\u201d, but he didn\u2019t regret clarifying what he said was the truth of what happened.<\/p>\n \u201cIf someone out of this whole thing decided to take action against me, then I would obviously defend myself because I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve done anything wrong. I haven\u2019t done anything illegal.<\/p>\n \u201cI might\u2019ve upset a couple of people, but it was in the heat of the moment. Do I regret some of the things I said? I actually do. I think I was a bit too harsh with a couple of my comments, but my initial reaction to that lady\u2019s first Facebook thing was absolutely warranted I thought.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s what started it all. All her friends started wading in afterwards and I just saw red.\u201d<\/p>\n
