He didn\u2019t accept the legitimacy of the parliament that had been elected, and acted that way each and every day. I think that has had an impact on our politics. There\u2019s no question.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>LISTEN HERE:<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"no\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/296578006&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>Albo\u2019s comments followed a take down of the current Aussie parliament by former Liberal treasurer Peter Costello\u2026<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThis is a country that worked itself up into a lather over a backpacker tax, for heaven&#8217;s sake,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2016-12-06\/backpacker-tax-a-waste-of-parliaments-time-says-peter-costello\/8097294\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mr Costello told 7.30 on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not a major economic issue. The budget&#8217;s in deficit. The backpacker tax isn&#8217;t going to touch the sides, and yet we wasted a whole week in Parliament in relation to it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy? Because in that Senate, every rogue on the left or the right or in the centre now counts and there&#8217;s going to be horse-trading.
