UPDATE, 10:05am — Impey fined and suspended, another player named.<\/h3>\n

Port Adelaide has fined Jarman Impey $5,000 and banned him from playing Rd 1 of the 2017 AFL season, the club said in a statement on Tuesday morning<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe incident, where four cars were damaged on a Norwood street, led to his subsequent charging by South Australian Police,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Impey\u2019s $5,000 fine will go to the Brain Injury Network of SA (BINSA), and Impey will be required to participate in BINSA\u2019s Youth Reconnect Transition Program — \u201cwhere he will witness first-hand the impact and life changing circumstances that result from road trauma\u201d.<\/p>\n

The club also revealed that Port player Aidyn Johnson was a passenger in Impey\u2019s vehicle at the time the incident occurred, and he will receive the same sanction as Impey.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese sanctions are based on the information at hand and Port Adelaide will make no further comment as the matter is subject to an ongoing police investigation,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch says Jarman Impey did a \u201cstupid thing\u201d and he\u2019s personal circumstances are no excuse for a hit and run incident over the weekend.<\/h3>\n

Impey made headlines<\/strong><\/a> after crashing into parked vehicles and fleeing the scene after drinking at a party at a teammate\u2019s house.<\/p>\n

\u201cA stupid thing,\u201d Kochie tells FIVEAA brekkie, \u201cand he\u2019s the first to admit it was just stupid — plain stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Impey is reportedly struggling with the recent death of his father, which Koch said was \u201cabsolutely no excuse for what he did\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got to face the circumstances both legally and within the club as well. That will be just.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kochie said the club\u2019s leadership group would determine any sanction\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cKeith Thomas will have input in that as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe try and leave it\u2026 depending on how severe it is\u2026 we tend to leave it up to the leadership group under the guidance of Keith and Chris Davies\u2026 that\u2019s how young blokes learn.<\/p>\n

\u201cJarman\u2019s got to go and face them\u2026 how do you trust someone in your playing group if they don\u2019t abide by the values?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kochie said the actions of Impey\u2019s teammates would also be considered.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure the leadership group will be looking at that as well. Who looked after each other? All those facts will be examined\u2026 you expect everyone to look out for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
