{"id":30538,"date":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/exclusive-the-fact-wind-power-fans-won-t-accept\/"},"modified":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","slug":"exclusive-the-fact-wind-power-fans-won-t-accept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/exclusive-the-fact-wind-power-fans-won-t-accept\/","title":{"rendered":"EXCLUSIVE &#8212; The fact wind power fans won\u2019t accept"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>With all the political mudslinging over the role of renewables in the state\u2019s big blackout, an expert has sent FIVEAA\u2019s Leon Byner a technical explanation as to why wind power has to be carefully managed&#8230;<\/h3>\n<p>According to energy expert Ray Wilkie, wind power proponents are failing to accept one simple engineering concept.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ray tells Leon:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt has been reported on our news that the South Australian power outage had nothing to do with wind generation which was simply weather related.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnything that causes a voltage drop on the transmission network &#8212; be it weather, a flock of birds, equipment failure, lightning strike, car hits a power pole etc. &#8212; can result in a total state blackout since wind generation has displaced traditional synchronous generation plant, which supports the total state\u2019s networks voltage and frequency during a network fault.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout adequate operating synchronous generation capacity, then a total power failure will result.
