{"id":30541,"date":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/ginger-ice-cream\/"},"modified":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-10-05T00:00:00","slug":"ginger-ice-cream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/ginger-ice-cream\/","title":{"rendered":"Ginger Ice Cream"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to Rilka Warbanoff and Foodland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><br><br \/>\n\t2 1\/3 cups Milk<br><br \/>\n\t2 1\/3 cups Cream<br><br \/>\n\t5 tblspns Ginger &#8211; peeled and grated&nbsp;<br><br \/>\n\t1 Vanilla pod &#8211; split seeds removed<br><br \/>\n\t3 Eggs at room temperature<br><br \/>\n\t4 Egg yolks at room temperature<br><br \/>\n\t1 cup Xylitol<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><br><br \/>\n\tYou will need an ice cream maker and so the first thing you need to do is follow the manufacturer\u2019s instructions and chill the freezer bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Place the milk, ginger and cream in a saucepan with the vanilla seed, bringing to a slow boil and then simmer for 30 minutes at a low heat.<\/p>\n<p>In a mixing bowl beat the eggs, egg yolks and Xylitol until smooth and pale. Strain the mixture so you can remove the ginger threads.<\/p>\n<p>While the mixer is on a low speed add a ladle of the hot milk mixture and when this has combined then pour the mixture back into the saucepan with the rest of milk cream mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Continue stirring with a wooden spoon until it coats the back of the spoon and strain through a sieve. Pour this mixture into a glass bowl, add the vanilla extract and then place&nbsp;clingwrap on the custard and cool it in the fridge.<\/p>\n<p>You need to have the custard completely cold before you can put it into the ice cream maker.<\/p>\n<p>Use the instructions provided by the manufacturer of your machine, pouring the custard into the machine and churn for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer to a container and remove it from the freezer about 10 minutes before serving.<\/p>\n<p>Xylitol is a substance that occurs naturally in fibrous fruits like plums and strawberries.
