{"id":30900,"date":"2016-07-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/adelaide-city-council-in-the-dark-over-old-royal-adelaide-hospital-site\/"},"modified":"2016-07-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T00:00:00","slug":"adelaide-city-council-in-the-dark-over-old-royal-adelaide-hospital-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/adelaide-city-council-in-the-dark-over-old-royal-adelaide-hospital-site\/","title":{"rendered":"Council in the dark over old RAH site"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Image | <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ADL_Archivist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@ADL_Archivist<\/a><\/h6>\n<h3>Lord Mayor Martin Haese says he has been asking the state government about its plans for the old RAH site on North Terrace, but remains none the wiser.<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWe at Adelaide City Council would very much like to know the details of what\u2019s happening on the old Royal Adelaide Hospital site sooner than later,\u201d Mr Haese told the FIVEAA breakfast show on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019ve been asking is when can we see the plans and, secondly, let\u2019s ensure that whatever happens on that site that it is activated seven days a week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve certainly been advised that we will be hearing the result, if not seeing the result, of the state government\u2019s expression of interest process very soon,\u201d Mr Haese said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sooner the better.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>LISTEN HERE:<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"no\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/272346875&amp;color=ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mr Haese said ideally the site would offer a combination of educational, medical and residential uses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the answer is all in the mix,\u201d he said. \u201cAt this point in time we would just like to know what that mix is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan said on FIVEAA that the council would be kept in the loop over its plans for the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur plan is to brief the Lord Mayor and the Adelaide City Council before we make any public statements,\u201d Mr Mullighan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe more uses you have on one site, the more people that will be in and around that site.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lord Mayor Haese said the council \u201cabsolutely\u201d welcomed news the north terrace tramline would be extended to the old RAH site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s well documented that when you put light rail along major thoroughfares it certainly has an economic uplift,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAddressing that vacancy rate along the southern side of North Terrace, we think the tram will do it. It\u2019s good for tourism.
