{"id":30917,"date":"2016-06-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/adelaide-nurses-protest-over-life-and-death-concerns\/"},"modified":"2016-06-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T00:00:00","slug":"adelaide-nurses-protest-over-life-and-death-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/show\/adelaide-nurses-protest-over-life-and-death-concerns\/","title":{"rendered":"Adelaide nurses protest over \u201clife and death\u201d concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Nurses at the Flinders Medical Centre\u2019s intensive care unit are taking protest action over what they say are \u201clife and death\u201d concerns.<\/h3>\n<p>Elizabeth Dabars from the Nursing and Midwifery union told Leon Byner on FIVEAA the action was being led by nurses who are \u201cdeeply concerned\u201d about their ability to provide safe patient care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are increasing pressures on their ability to maintain that safe patient care,\u201d she said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Dabars said nurses had decided to take action to send a message to management about \u201cserious and continuing issues\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She said these involved the unit\u2019s skill mix and staffing levels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore staff or more qualified staff. We\u2019re not all that fussy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are concerned they are going to end up with a critical indecent. We are talking about life and death scenarios,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Dabars said there had been a lack of action despite nurses raising their issues continuously for sometime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really is about saying, \u2018No, enough is enough.
