\u201cHorrific images\u201d of burns sustained by consumers when their Thermomix malfunctioned have been circulating online for some time, said Choice\u2019s Tom Godfrey, and the seal on the appliance was listed for national recall back in October 2014.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe company has tried to downplay a national recall,\u201d Mr Godfrey told Leon Byner on FIVEAA.<\/p>\n
\u201c(There are) Reports that Thermomix had been forcing consumers to sign nondisclosure agreements and gag orders before they could get a refund,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Godfrey said the company told customers to replace the seal every two years, but the machine still appeared faulty.<\/p>\n
\u201cA number of the reports that we have are people who did that, they replaced the sealing ring, and then there was a problem.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need the ACCC to investigate and we\u2019re encouraging the ACCC the issue a safety warning.\u201d<\/p>\n
