Both the Liberal and Labor parties have conducted polls, and \u201cthe results make for extremely alarming reading for sitting members,\u201d David Penberthy said on FIVEAA. <\/p>\n
According to Penbo, the Labor poll shows that four of 12 Senate seats would be won by Xenophon candidates.<\/p>\n
And a Liberal poll will unnerve high profile candidates Jamie Briggs in Mayo and Christopher Pyne in Sturt, he said.<\/p>\n
According to Penbo, the pair would be safe if they won 50 per cent of the primary vote.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut if they don\u2019t \u2013 and they\u2019re unlikely to as a result of the surge by these Xenophon candidates \u2013 what it means is that if Labor comes third in those seats and hands all of its preferences to the Nick Xenophon candidate, there is a very real chance the Nick Xenophon candidates will win,\u201d Penbo said.<\/p>\n
Speaking on FIVEAA breakfast, Nick Xenophon dismissed the polling, saying he couldn\u2019t rule out the possibility the numbers were \u201cmisinformation\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think people are getting completely ahead of themselves,\u201d Xenophon told David and Will.<\/p>\n
