Uber<\/a> plan would neglect the taxi industry.<\/p>\n\u201cYesterday we\u2019ve had the South Australian Liberals, led by Mr Marshall, make comments that they don\u2019t think there\u2019ll be an impact on the taxi industry,\u201d Mr Mullighan told David and Will. \u201cTheir legislation doesn\u2019t envisage compensation \u2013 that\u2019s not a matter they\u2019re concerned about.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s some pretty deep policy considerations about driver standards (and) vehicle standards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Marshall said his plan was to grow the \u201coverall size of the market\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not talking about giving away rank or hail opportunities to ride sharing companies,\u201d Mr Marshall said. \u201cThat will remain the exclusive monopoly of taxis here in South Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we would like to see Uber and companies like that come into South Australia to grow the overall size of the market.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy? It\u2019s going to reduce congestion on our roads, there\u2019s no doubt about that. And secondly, it\u2019s job creation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
