Caroline Wilson says the \u201cbrutal\u201d fight between Adelaide and Port Adelaide to field SA\u2019s team in the 2017 AFL women\u2019s competition will be fascinating tussle to watch.<\/h3>\n

Caro said the Crows had got the jump on the Power in the race to win the SA license.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will definitely be a women\u2019s team out of Adelaide next year when that league is launched,\u201d Caro told Rowey and Bicks on FIVEAA.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdelaide see themselves as the front runners\u2026 because of their model, which would see them join forces with the Northern Territory.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the inaugural women\u2019s league was announced, Adelaide CEO Andrew Fagan said the Crows would \u201cpush hard to ensure a Crows team is participating\u201d.<\/h3>\n

“We are buoyed by our informal discussions with the AFL and look forward to tabling a compelling proposal when the tender process commences in coming weeks,\u201d Fagan said in a statement on the Crows website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But Caro said Port Adelaide couldn\u2019t be ruled out.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdelaide believe Port Adelaide were a bit late to come to the table, but they are well and truly at the table now,\u201d Caro said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve even signed a woman player. It\u2019s going to be a fascinating tussle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caro said the AFL had been pleased to see such strong competition to win the license to play in the women\u2019s league.<\/p>\n

\u201cGillon McLachlan seemed quite happy that there had been some fairly feisty and rather brutal competition between the two Adelaide clubs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
