The Australian reported on Wednesday<\/a> that the Xenophon Team candidate for the seat of Mayo is aligned with a group linked to Pauline Hanson and which believes global warming is a UN conspiracy.<\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s put this in perspective. Rebekha went to a meeting,\u201d Xenophon said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a public meeting where issues were discussed in relation to farming issues.<\/p>\n \u201cRebekha tells me that a number of people at the meeting were card-carrying members of the Liberal party.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a case of trying to have guilt by association by simply turning up and expressing her views to a group of farmers.\u201d <\/p>\n Mr Xenophon said he expected more attacks in the lead up to the 2016 federal election.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m sure the Liberal party will use this to their tactical and political advantage, but it does not reflect what Rebekha\u2019s about.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to make it absolutely clear that Rebekha doesn\u2019t share those views.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a classic case of guilt by association. Mr Xenophon said Ms Sharkie had simply attended a public meeting, which was also attended by Liberal and Labor politicians.<\/h3>\n
