Graham Cornes has described the 12-month ban handed to 34 past and present Essendon players by the Court of Arbitration for Sport as a \u201cstitch up\u201d and defended the controversial sports scientist behind the club\u2019s 2012 supplements program.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThe substance that they\u2019re supposed to have been injected with is banned by WADA, but there\u2019s still no conclusive evidence that the players were actually injected with it \u2013 it\u2019s all circumstantial,\u201d Cornes told the FIVEAA sports show.<\/p>\n

Cornes said the CAS judgement referred to \u201cmissing links\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd somehow, miraculously, these wise jurors have connected these missing links with very spurious evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cornes said he had spoken with Stephen Dank \u2013 the man behind the supplements program, and who has received an AFL life ban \u2013 who he said was \u201cthe ultimate villain in this\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe maintains today that he did not give them Thymosin Beta 4, he thinks the whole thing is concocted. He thinks it\u2019s a stitch up. There was no new evidence that was presented.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just can\u2019t but think it was a predetermined outcome,\u201d Cornes said.<\/p>\n
