Opening the FIVEAA Sports Show on Thursday night, Mark Bickley said he \u201cwanted to bring a few things to people\u2019s attention\u201d about Adam Goodes.<\/h3>\n

Bicks said there were two things that \u201coverwhelmingly\u201d upset people about the star Swan who this week found himself in the middle of a race debate after months of crowd booing.<\/p>\n

The first was a quote Goodes has become famous for after he called out a 13-year-old for making a racist remark over the fence.<\/p>\n

At the times Goodes said: \u201cRacism has a face in Australia and it\u2019s a 13-year-old girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

But when you play the rest of the quote, as Bicks did on air, you hear Goodes add:<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s not her fault. She\u2019s 13, she\u2019s still so innocent. I don\u2019t put any blame on her. Unfortunately it\u2019s what she hears, the environment she\u2019s grown up in that has made her think that it\u2019s ok to call people names.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s a very important bit of audio that\u2019s been left out in all this,\u201d Bicks said.<\/p>\n

The second incident was the \u201cthe notion that he said Australia Day is Invasion Day\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was never said,\u201d according to Bicks, although Goodes was quizzed about the idea of \u201cInvasion Day\u201d on the Today show.<\/p>\n

In reply, Goodes said:<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me it\u2019s about celebrating the positives\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are people out there thinking that today is a great day for Australia, well it is\u2026 but we also need to acknowledge our fantastic Aboriginal history\u2026 and just know some Aboriginal people out there today are felling a little bit angry, a little bit soft in the heart today because of that, and that\u2019s ok as well.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI would hardly call that divisive. I would say that\u2019s inclusive,\u201d said Bicks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just trying to put that out there to give a balanced view about the Adam Goodes a lot of people know, and the one that people are getting a selective point of view of,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
