Phil Walsh had a telephone conversation with his mentor John Worsfold on the Tuesday before his tragic death.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cWe talked about a few things,\u201d Worsfold told the FIVEAA sports show.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow he\u2019s been going, how he\u2019s dealing with the pressure\u201d and whether Walsh had been surfing, according to Worsfold.<\/p>\n

The former West Coast coach also revealed the pair had discussed the possibility of Worsfold sitting in Walsh\u2019s coach\u2019s box for another game, something Worsfold did earlier in the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see if he was still tracking along with the things he was trying to achieve as a senior coach,\u201d Worsfold said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how we left it, that I would look at the fixtures and try and see where there would be the possibility for me to sit in the box again.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Adelaide Crows appointed Worsfold as coaching director, with Scott Camporeale stepping up to become interim senior coach.<\/p>\n

Walsh worked as an assistant coach under John Worsfold at West Coast for five years from 2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis energy was boundless,\u201d Worsfold said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe loved his players and he wanted them to achieve at the required level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Worsfold said Walsh\u2019s reputation had preceded him all the way across the western border.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d heard a lot of reports about Phil Walsh at Port Adelaide and the impact he\u2019d had and the work he\u2019d been doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy gut feel was that Phil Walsh was ahead of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe used to believe there was no use colouring things up too much. I wouldn\u2019t say blunt, but he didn\u2019t mix his words.\u201d<\/p>\n
