Footy writer Michelangelo Rucci has suggested that comments made by fellow FIVEAA broadcaster Stephen Rowe could inspire Sydney in their game this Thursday against Port Adelaide.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cRowe\u2019s declaration of a party unfolding at Alberton on Monday afternoon as the AFL match review panel issued one-game bans to key Sydney forwards Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett is a throwback to September 2003,\u201d Rucci wrote in The Advertiser.<\/p>\n

Rucci likened Rowey\u2019s antics to comments made by commentator Rex Hunt in 2003 which helped provoke Sydney to a famous win over Port Adelaide at Football Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is inspiring stuff for the Swans who are not short of acid on their collective stomach after dropping a home game to Richmond on Friday,\u201d according to Rucci.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it is agitating for Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley at a time when opposition coaches \u2014 such as Hawthorn master Alastair Clarkson \u2014 feed off \u201cwhite noise\u201d around an opposition camp.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Power players \u2014 who are far from threatening form and have an appalling record of just one win from the past 12 games against Sydney \u2014 are supposedly celebrating at Alberton, as Rowe would have it, then 2003 will indeed be relived.<\/p>\n

\u201cSydney may be \u201ceasier\u201d to counter without Franklin and Tippett, but they are far from easy to beat.\u201d<\/p>\n
